Betty Brussel
We are so proud of Betty! Not only has she broken or set 12 world records in her 100th year, but she is also an inspiration and friend to her White Rock Wave family.
And just in case you do not think you could ever achieve such a feat, Betty will be quick to tell you that she did not even start competing until she was 67 and did not even do the strokes properly at first--in fact, she even got a DQ!
Betty has been a fixture at MSABC meets for many years now, barely missing a meet--even when she is not "quite up to par." It's that tenacity that motivates so many of us to say, "If Betty can do it, so can I!"
Betty's favourite races are anything freestyle--the 800, 400, 200, 100, and the 50. Once in a while, she will also throw in a 50 breast or 50 backstroke. She's game for any relay--but especially loves the Flamingo Relay at the EBSC meet due to the prize--chocolate! Betty especially loves dark chocolate (hint, hint).
She is truly an inspiration to us all!
